Simon Hill is Australian founder of Plant Proof and he describes himself as “Physiotherapist and Nutritionist who is passionate about making nutritional information simple and accessible so that people can make informed decisions about the food”. Plant Proof is an evidence-based resource that “proved that simple lifestyle changes could help people prevent and sometimes even reverse many of the leading chronic diseases that plague the western world today”.
Dr. Gemma Newman is UK medical practitioner with specialist interest in holistic health, plant based nutrition and lifestyle medicine understanding “that body, mind and soul are not separate, and that it is only in addressing the root causes of stress and disconnection that we can truly heal, from the inside out.”
UK based Deliciously Ella describes herself as a resource to help people “live better and make vegetables cool”. When Ella was suffering from an illness in her early twenties, she started a personal blog based on WFPB eating and documented her healing journey.

USA based, Kris Carr has been living with inoperable cancer for over a decade and she describes the experience as having “taught her to take care of herself and live life to the fullest”. Although she is still living with cancer, she is healthy and runs a mission-driven business that serves her community. According to Kris, if she can pull this off, “just imagine what YOU can do”.
Founded in the USA by Angela Liddon, Oh She Glows is a recipe blog in which Angela “celebrates her love for plant-based food”. Angela struggled for a decade with an eating disorder and traded the low-calorie, processed foods with whole, nutrient-packed vegetables, fruits, nuts, whole grains, and more. She healed her relationship with food, increased her energy and got her glow back, both inside and out.

Founded by twins from Ireland, Dave and Steve Flynn, created this site which contains an array of hearty WFPB recipes. The site is much more than just recipes and one of the goals of the twins is to build a community “around health and happiness”. I am not aware of an App but The Happy Pear does offer courses, shop products, cafes and cookbooks.
This website is founded by Jean-Phiippe Cyr, a classically trained chef, aiming to introduce people to the pleasures of vegan eating. He is a practicing Buddhist for over 20 years and dedicates his time to creating simple and tasty vegan recipes. He believes that everyone has the power to make their vision of the world a reality and that the most impactful way to do that is through the food we choose to make, eat, and share. The site contains a collection of recipes, an information blog and newsletter.
Founded by David and Luise, who live in Sweden with their family, this site offers a range of vegetarian recipes, including a vegan section. Green Kitchen Stories is about “healthy vegetarian recipes using whole food and organic products” with an aim for the recipes “to be as simple and pure as possible”. There are two recipe Apps available, at a nominal cost, as well as a number of cookbooks.
Learn about a whole foods plant based lifestyle and “live a plant based life” through Dr. T. Colin Campbell’s Center for Nutrition Studies. This site contains a range of courses, tools, information, recipes and meal plans.
The philosophy of the No Meat Athlete is to give you “tools, not preaching”. They cover “training tips, recipes, advice on how to transition, and the occasional dose of inspiration — so that even if now isn’t the time for you to start eating less meat (but especially if it is), you’ll know you’ve always got someone in your corner to help you out.” The site includes a blog, recipes for healthy fueling, and a podcast discussing a variety of topics.
“Simple recipes that make you feel good.” The Minimalist Baker “celebrates simple cooking by sharing recipes that require 10 ingredients or less, 1 bowl, or 30 minute or less to prepare.” While many of the recipes on Minimalist Baker are plant-based, they are not an exclusively vegan or plant-based website and they welcome all eaters.
This cookbook has become one of my favourites and contains a selection of classic recipes inspired by cuisines from around the world. The recipes offer something for everyone, long-time WFPB eaters, those trying it out for the first time, or those simply trying to eat more plant-based foods. With delicious recipes for every meal of the day, this book is a celebration of healthy, plant-based dishes that will have everyone at the table wanting more.
The Happy Pear have several cookbooks but my favourite is Recipes for Happiness. Aptly named, this cookbook is crammed with recipes to make you happier, including a huge section of economical easy dinners, plant-based alternatives to family favourites and irresistible treats.
A fascinating read, this book by Dr. Michael Mosley asserts that our gut is astonishingly clever and is home to the microbiome, trillions of microbes that influence mood, immune system, and even appetite. He explores how junk food and overuse of antibiotics have wiped out many good gut bacteria, leading to a modern plague of allergies, food intolerances, and obesity. Creator of Vega, the award-winning line of whole food nutritional products, Brendan Brazier is a former professional Ironman triathlete and two-time Canadian ultra marathon champion. He is recognized as one of the world’s foremost authorities on plant-based nutrition and this book includes 150 delicious, easy to make and performance enhancing plant-based whole food recipes developed within the Thrive nutritional philosophy.
The film, created by Brian Wendell and first released in 2011, explores the premise of food as medicine and follows the personal journeys of Dr. T. Colin Campbell, a nutritional biochemist from Cornell University, and Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, a former top surgeon at the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic. Based on the premise that “through nurturing food, you have the power to live your best life”, there is more information on the website Forks Over Knives which also contains tools and recipes to help you to take charge of your health.
